Parea is a project that encompasses site concept, visual identity, and UI design. It is a simulated site that allows ex-pats living in Belgium to exchange meals and books in their native language.
The project grew out of my personal experience of foraging abroad for many years.
While technology makes easy to communicate with anyone in the world, the value of material acts is never taken for granted. Parea focus on the fact that reading your native language printed on real paper, not on your phone, and sharing food from home with someone, can be an important source of support in a foreign country where these material and tangible experiences are not always easy.
*Parea is a Greek word that refers to a close-knit group of friends who come together regularly to share life experiences, exchange ideas, and discuss philosophies.
